Who to vote for in Latvia's 2026 elections - party overview
The 15th Saeima elections will be held on October 3, 2026. Latvia uses a proportional representation system - parties need at least 5% of votes to enter parliament. The current 14th Saeima has seven parties.
The main themes expected in the 2026 elections: national defence and NATO (Latvia plans to spend 4.91% of GDP on defence - the highest in NATO), the economy and cost of living, as well as values issues (the Istanbul Convention debate in November 2025 nearly collapsed the coalition). Recent polls show the National Alliance leading, with Latvia First in second place.
